Watch your dog or cat rise up on two legs and perform a joyful, energetic dance at home. Upload one pet photo, get back a 10-second video with its own beat.
An AI dog dancing video turns your actual dog or cat into an upright dancer moving through your home: stepping side to side, waving paws, spinning and striking a final pose. This trend has stayed popular on TikTok for months. You only need one clear pet photo to start.

The button displays the cost. You get a 10-second video directly from your photo, with its own audio. No prompt writing needed.
Download or post
Your video arrives in minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, post from your device, or retrieve it later from your Library.
What kind of photo should you use?
Choose one crisp photo showing your pet's entire body, from ears to tail tip. The prompt stands your animal upright, so the AI needs to see legs, paws and distinctive features.
Well-lit, eye-level, in focus. Blurry shots produce blurry dancers.
Select a photo showing the room you want visible. The prompt preserves your actual room and extends the floor space.
One pet only. Two animals might blend together.
Distinctive features help: white chest fur, an eye spot. The prompt maintains them.
Use your own pet, or one whose owner gave permission.
When did the Dancing Pet trend begin?
Dancing pets are not a one-week meme. They are a format that keeps coming back. One dancing-cat clip on TikTok reached 14.6 million views in 2025, and in the summer of 2026 the format took off again: a dancing cat from 22 July reached 10.7 million views, another from 29 August reached 8.6 million, and a clip of two cats dancing from 17 August reached 5.9 million views and 617,200 likes.
In a sample of 3,815 TikTok videos we collected on 29 September 2026, 61 were AI pet dances, with 35.9 million views between them. Cats lead the biggest clips, but dogs are what most people search for: in the US, "ai dog dancing" gets about 3,600 Google searches a month and "ai cat dancing" about 1,900.
Many viral clips copy one exact trending dance from a reference video. Smew AI has templates for some of them, listed below. This page is different: its prompt makes an original, bouncy dance from your pet's photo, with an original beat.
A dancing-cat video on TikTok hits 14.6 million views, showing the format's staying power.
A dancing-cat clip is posted on TikTok and eventually reaches 10.7 million views and 637,800 likes.

Edit [Video 1]. Replace only the explicitly mapped source subjects in place:
[Image 1] replaces the sole foreground dog dancing upright in the living room; photo slot: Your pet, whole body, in every shot where that subject appears.
[Image 1]: Replace the ENTIRE mapped performer in EVERY source shot with the uploaded pet's actual species, face, muzzle, eyes, ears, fur, markings and coherent animal body. Replace human skin, hands, fingers, torso, sleeves and clothing belonging to this target with the pet's own fur and natural paws. Foreground hands belonging to this performer are included. Paws follow source gesture timing and limb trajectories without becoming five-fingered human hands. Never put a pet head on the source human body. Other separately mapped human roles stay human.
Selected variant: Dancing pet / main. Apply only the requested cast, wardrobe, setting or effect changes for this variant; preserve the source action and shot timing instead of inventing a new scene sequence.
Use the complete preview as the source for the Dancing Pet / Dancing pet variant. Preserve its actual action, effect progression, camera moves, shot sequence, physical interactions and mouth/jaw timing. Photo-role labels determine the intended identity assignment; never assign uploaded faces to unrelated background people or props.
Track each source subject through front, profile, back and occluded views. Keep all non-target subjects unchanged. Never duplicate an uploaded identity, merge subjects, swap their roles or transfer an identity to a prop or background subject.
Preserve the complete source video from its first frame to its last: source duration, frame order, every shot boundary, playback speed, camera movement, framing, lighting and original performance; keep background/props unless the selected variant explicitly changes them. Preserve each subject's original head, gaze, body, hand/paw gestures, expression, mouth and jaw opening/closing and their exact source timing. Do not create a new dance, scene, shot list, dialogue or lyrics. Do not add, remove, reorder, shorten, extend or retime shots or actions.
Produce silent video. The matching unmodified original soundtrack is restored separately after this edit. Do not generate speech, singing or music. Do not add new captions, subtitles, logos or a watermark.

Does this work for cats and dogs equally?
Yes. The prompt uses "the animal" rather than specifying species, so it handles cats, dogs, rabbits or guinea pigs equally well. Cats star in the biggest viral videos: the three top TikToks we identified in summer 2026 all featured cats.
Smaller, rounder animals may appear rigid when upright. If your cat or small dog looks frozen, run it again. The choreography stays consistent across pets: side stepping, paw waving, a small spin, hip movement and a final camera-facing pose.
Can you recreate a particular trending dance?
Yes, when that dance has a dedicated template. Each one mimics the choreography of a popular reel, substitutes your pet for the dancer and includes the song:
Single Ladies dog dance: your pet performs the center role in the "Single Ladies" choreography.
Tecktonik dance, Pet version: 2000s electro arm choreography on a compact stage.
This page takes a different approach. Without a reference clip, the prompt generates an original upbeat dance in your actual room, with an original beat. For a particular style here, modify the video prompt wording. Examples:
"a slow, smooth moonwalk and a shoulder shimmy"
"a fast hip-hop routine with arm waves"
"a line dance with a clap at the end"
The model understands plain English, but won't reproduce exact choreography. For a dance not listed above, add the trending audio in TikTok or Instagram at posting time; the moves won't sync to every beat of that track.
Common problems and solutions
Problem
Fix
The pet has an extra paw or a fifth leg
Generate the video again. The prompt includes "no extra paws", but this occasionally occurs.
The face or the markings change
Use a crisper photo with a visible face, then run it again.
The pet does not stand upright in the still
Run it again.
The room looks different from your home
Use a wider shot showing more of the space.
The dance is too slow
Run it again.
The video model refuses the photo
Credits refund automatically. Try another photo, or run it again.
Tips for posting an AI dancing pet video
Open with a real moment. Many creators start with a brief real clip of the pet sitting calmly, then cut to the dance: the contrast creates the humor. A caption from the pet's perspective ("when the treats come out") performs better than simply "AI dance".
Use the same pet name across posts and feature the same animal repeatedly, building followers for the pet rather than individual clips. Mark the video as AI-generated where platforms require it.
FAQ
Dancing Pet trend questions
How do I make an AI dancing video of my dog?+
Press "Create your own" and upload one full-body photo of your pet. The button shows the cost first. You get a 10-second video directly: your pet stands up and dances, with an original beat. The clip waits in your Library. There is no still to approve and no film button.
Can I make an AI cat dancing video?+
Yes. The prompts handle any pet, and cats appear in most of the top dancing-pet TikTok clips. Use a clear photo displaying the entire cat, ears to tail, so the AI can position it upright on hind legs.
What is the best AI dancing video generator for pets?+
Any image-to-video model that preserves the animal's facial features and markings. This template uses Seedance 2.5. All videos output as 9:16 with audio and no watermark.
Can I make my pet do a specific TikTok dance?+
Yes, for trends with dedicated templates: the [Single Ladies dog dance](/templates/single-ladies-dog-dance-ai) and Pet versions of [Tecktonik](/templates/tecktonik-dance-ai-trend), [Thriller](/templates/thriller-dance-ai-trend) and [Billie Jean](/templates/billie-jean-dance-ai-trend) dance templates replicate a viral reel's choreography, including the song. This page generates an original dance instead, and you can describe a style using words, like "a moonwalk".
What is the AI dancing trend?+
It's an enduring TikTok format where AI animates a pet or person dancing. Dancing-cat videos reached 10.7, 8.6 and 5.9 million views in July and August 2026, and a TikTok sample of 3,815 videos from 29 September included 61 AI pet dances.
Can I use a photo with two pets?+
One pet per photo works better. The prompt specifies exactly one animal, and multiple animals in one image may blend together. For a pair, create two separate videos, or explore the two-pet version of the Hotel Lobby template.
