How to make the Heaven Hug video on Smew AI

Everything happens in your browser. No editing app needed, no prompt writing, no watermark added.

  1. Add the two photos

Press "Create your own" and upload yourself first, then your loved one. Order matters: it determines who appears where in the scene. Capture them with your camera or choose from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button displays the cost. Seedance 2.5 creates the Heaven hug scene directly from your photos with no intermediate image, producing a 10-second clip with original sound. No prompt needed.

  3. Download or share

Your video finishes in minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share from your device, or retrieve it later from your Library.

Which photo works best?

Upload two photos: one showing you, one showing the person you're remembering. Both versions work with these same two images.

  • Clear, focused faces looking toward the camera, with good lighting. Waist-up shots work well.
  • Your loved one at the age you remember. The clip preserves the age shown in the photo.
  • Printed photos work fine. Photograph the print flat without glare. Black-and-white photos appear in natural color.
  • Two people in photo 2, such as both grandparents, appear together waiting, and you embrace them both.
  • Only you in photo 1. Crop group photos beforehand.
  • A pet in photo 2 runs toward you, and you kneel down to hold it.

Where did the Heaven Hug trend start?

The heaven hug exists in two CapCut templates. The stairway version originates from "Un deseo", a Father's Day template from June 2026 with over 820,000 uses: you climb a stairway of golden light toward someone you miss waiting above. Starting 1 September 2026 it spread across the US as the heaven reunion. An early post by @emsmama43 for her late father reached 78,500 views. Other variations emerged: a US creator's run through a field toward her grandma "when I arrive to heaven", posted 10 October, surpassed 268,000 views.

The cloud version is a Día de Muertos template from Mexico, appearing from 13 October 2026, about three weeks before the holiday on 1 and 2 November. It begins with the line "Imagina que vas al cielo y Dios te dice: alguien te está esperando" ("Imagine you go to heaven and God tells you: someone is waiting for you"), then you run across clouds into their arms. Its sound appeared in 564 TikTok videos early 14 October and 2,790 by the next day.

  1. The CapCut template "Un deseo" is created for Father's Day: you climb a stairway of golden light to embrace someone you miss. It reaches 822,007 uses by 15 October. CapCut

Choose your scene on the create page. Both produce a 10-second vertical heaven reunion video using the same two photos.

VersionWhat happens
StairwayYou climb a stairway of bright golden steps rising through the clouds. Your loved one stands at the top in a doorway of light with arms open, and you embrace. This is the stairway to heaven AI video from US posts.
Cloud runYou run across golden clouds, pause when you recognize someone, then rush into their arms. This is the Día de Muertos AI video from Mexican posts, the abrazo en el cielo IA or reencuentro en el cielo IA.

Seedance 2.5 creates each heaven reunion AI video directly from your two photos with no intermediate picture, preserving both faces close to the originals. The clip is 720p with gentle original piano music. Exact pricing appears on the Generate button before you spend, and finished videos appear in your Library.

Who people make it for

Most heaven hugs honor a parent or grandparent: a hug from mom in heaven, a hug from dad in heaven, or a grandma waiting at the stairway's top. Spanish posts say abrazo a mamá en el cielo or abrazo a mi papá en el cielo. Others create it for siblings, partners or friends, and some for pets: an AI dog in heaven video works with a dog photo as photo 2.

Captions describe it as "meeting loved one in heaven" or "walking up the stairs to heaven". The video depicts that moment, though it's an AI creation, not an actual memory. Create it when it feels appropriate, and consult your family first if the person mattered to them too.

How to share it, gently

These videos deal with love and grief. Common captions include:

  • English posts: "First person I'm running to when I get to heaven" or "Me running to my grandma when I arrive to heaven".
These are phrases people search when sending love to someone who passed. Abrazo hasta el cielo means "a hug all the way to heaven".
  • Reunion phrases: "reencuentro con seres queridos en el cielo" (with loved ones in heaven), "reencuentro con un difunto" or "reencuentro en las nubes" (in the clouds).
  • Keep the AI label visible. This video is an AI creation, not an actual memory.

Hashtags (TikTok, 15 October 2026): #heavenreunion (2,771 videos) for the stairway; #reencuentroenelcielo (196) and #abrazoenelcielo (139) for the cloud run; #diademuertos is the main one. Sound: your video includes gentle original music. You can layer the trend's sound when posting to TikTok.

FAQ

Heaven Hug trend questions

What is the heaven hug trend?
It's an AI video trend where people transform a photo of themselves and a photo of someone who died into a brief video: they climb a stairway of light or run through clouds, discover that person waiting, then embrace. Many describe it as a reunion in heaven.
How do I make a heaven reunion video?
Press "Create your own", select Stairway or Cloud run, upload a photo of yourself as photo 1 and your loved one as photo 2, then press Generate. The button displays the cost first. You receive a 10-second vertical video in your Library, no CapCut template required.
What is the stairway to heaven AI trend?
It's the English version, also tagged as the stairs to heaven trend on TikTok: you climb a stairway of golden light toward someone you miss waiting above. It spread from a CapCut template in September 2026, and our Stairway version creates the same reunion video from your two photos.
Is there a stairway to heaven AI filter?
Not as a filter: on TikTok the heaven reunion effect is a CapCut template, called the *plantilla reencuentro en el cielo* in Spanish posts. Here no app or link is needed: upload your two photos and receive your own AI-generated clip of this stairway scene.
What does abrazo en el cielo mean?
*Abrazo en el cielo* means "a hug in heaven", and *reencuentro en el cielo* means "a reunion in heaven". In Mexico the trend is the Día de Muertos cloud version, the first hug (*primer abrazo en el cielo*) with someone who passed, and some posts call it *abrazo celestial*.
What does "Imagina que vas al cielo y Dios te dice: alguien te está esperando" mean?
It means "Imagine you go to heaven and God tells you: someone is waiting for you." It's the opening line of the cloud template, and many people use it as their caption. Some write "alguien te está esperando en el cielo" ("someone is waiting for you in heaven").
Which prompt does this template use?
The Stairway version begins with the text repeated verbatim in the stairway template's posts, "running up stairway to heaven hug two people Create my heavenly reunion scene", plus additional lines preserving both faces and the template's shots. The cloud template is closed with no shared prompt from its creator, so its prompt follows the template's story frame by frame. Both are designed for Seedance 2.5, so no AI heaven video prompt writing is required.
Can I use an old or black-and-white photo?
Yes. Photograph the print flat without glare so the face is sharp. Your loved one appears in natural color at the age shown in the photo.
Can photo 2 show two people, a child or a pet?
Yes. Two people in one photo, like your grandparents, appear together waiting, and you embrace them both. A child remains at their photo age, and you kneel to hold them. A pet runs toward you, and you kneel to hold it. For a video featuring just a pet, see [Day of the Dead pet](/templates/ai-day-of-the-dead-pet).
How do I make an AI video of someone who passed away?
Upload a clear photo of your deceased loved one as photo 2 and yourself as photo 1, then press Generate. AI produces a short memorial hug video showing you seeing them in heaven and embracing again. It's an AI creation, not a real memory.
Is it okay to make a video of someone who has passed away?
It's a personal decision. Consult your family first, choose a photo they're comfortable with, and keep the video private if uncertain. The video is an AI creation, not an actual memory. For a hug with someone currently in your life, use the [AI hug video](/templates/ai-hug-video).
Do I need a heaven hug AI app?
No. It works here in your browser: upload your two photos and press Generate. You don't need CapCut, a template link or a heaven hug AI app on your device.
What is the heaven reunion AI video?
It's the English name for the trend: a heaven reunion video shows you climbing stairs or running through clouds into the arms of someone you're remembering. TikTok posts tag the AI heaven reunion as #heavenreunionai, and the heaven reunion hug is the same clip.
What is a hug from heaven AI video?
"A hug from heaven" is a traditional memorial phrase, and a hug from heaven AI video transforms it into a scene: you and the person you miss embracing above the clouds. This page is a generator creating one clip from your two photos.
Is this a heaven AI video generator?
Yes, for this specific scene. As an AI heaven video maker, it transforms two photos into an AI video of heaven, climbing golden stairs or running through clouds to your loved one. To create it, select a version and press Generate; no prompt writing needed.
Is this the heavenly reunion AI video?
Yes. "Heavenly reunion" originates from the stairway template's own text, "Create my heavenly reunion scene", so it describes the same clip: you ascend the golden stairs and they wait above.
Can I make a heaven reunion picture instead of a video?
This template creates a video. For a heaven reunion picture, pause the completed video at the embrace and capture a screenshot.
Is the heaven hug a Día de Muertos AI video?
The cloud version is: it's a Día de Muertos AI video (in Spanish, a *video Día de Muertos IA*), honoring the days in Mexico on 1 and 2 November when families remember their deceased. The stairway version launched as a Father's Day template in June 2026 and spread in the US in September, for any loved one.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
It's 10 seconds, vertical 9:16, at 720p, with gentle original piano music and no speech. The templates' songs aren't included. You can layer the trend's sound when posting to TikTok.
Does the heaven hug video cost credits?
Yes. The create page displays the exact cost on the Generate button before you spend. If a video fails, your credits are returned.
Are my photos private?
Yes. Smew AI doesn't post your photos or results anywhere or display them to other users. The video goes to your private Library, and you can delete it anytime.
