Gas Station Dance AI: Climb Out of the Car and Do the Mop Dance
One photo puts you in the night-time gas station mop dance: you climb out of a dark car and dance on the empty forecourt for 15 seconds, with the song. The three-friend road trip version is not offered on this page.
The gas station dance is a 2024 road trip reel that went viral again in September 2026. This page does not recreate that three-person clip. It makes the later mop dance: one photo of you, climbing out of a dark car at a gas station at night and dancing on the empty forecourt for 15 seconds.

Where the Gas Station Dance trend began
The video is actual footage. On 1 July 2024, blogger Adel Veigel (@adelveigel) shared it on Instagram with the caption "tag the one you want to fly off into the sunset with". During a road trip, she and her friends—Russian blogger Mikhail Litvin and streamer Ravshan Dzhulpaev—stop at a roadside parking lot. Ravshan dances to music from the car, Litvin records himself, and Adel exits the vehicle. The track is "Stay with Me" by Romanian group Akcent, released in 2009. By 12 October 2026 the video had collected 1.65 million likes.
In late September 2026 the video resurfaced on TikTok, starting with reposts (a Turkish repost of extended footage surpassed 1.4 million views), then AI recreations. Starting 24 September, CapCut templates and later Dreamina ones allowed users to insert themselves and friends into the three roles, Akcent's official account acknowledged the trend, and on 2 October Italian news outlet Sky TG24 described the AI recreations as "the trend of the moment". Smew AI drops your photos into the original video.

Video prompt
Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same gas station at night under the white canopy lights, the same dark grey four-door car with the driver door open, the same handheld phone camera, the same two takes, camera angles, cut, timing and dance moves. The ONLY change: the muscular man in the tan blazer with the tall grey hair who climbs out of the car and dances is now the person in [Image 1].
The dancer = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY shot: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles), so their friends recognize them at once. The hair is the hair from [Image 1]: NO tall grey stepped hair, no grey hair unless [Image 1] shows it. The body has the same build as in [Image 1]: NO huge bodybuilder arms, chest or shoulders unless [Image 1] shows them. They wear the clothes from [Image 1], with long trousers and shoes: NO tan blazer and NO red pocket square unless [Image 1] shows them. They copy the dance, the laugh and the face of the man in the video, not the pose in [Image 1].
The same real person in every frame, from the first shot to the last, also from behind and when bent low. Never morph, never drift back to the original man's face, hair or body.
The moves, beat by beat, as in [Video 1]: [00:00-00:01.5] the dancer climbs out of the driver door. [00:01.5-00:06] on the empty forecourt: arm swings, a turn with both hands up over the head, the hands behind the head. [00:06] cut to the second take, the car behind. [00:06-00:10] the mop: both hands clasped and pushed forward, swept side to side with low knee bounces. [00:10-00:15] bends down low, springs up with one fist high, high-knee steps and arm swings, a deep crouch by the car.
Anatomy rules: exactly one person, one head on that person's shoulders, two arms, two legs, five fingers on each hand. A face never appears on hands, clothes or the car. No text, no captions, no logos, no badges or lettering on the car, no readable signs or brand names, no watermarks.

The reference version the model uses has no text overlay, and car logos and license plates are blurred, so the model has no text or branding to reproduce.
Why recreate the actual video? The appeal of the trend is its authentic phone video aesthetic from a road trip. Replacing people in actual footage preserves the genuine lighting, real vehicles and unstable camera movement.
What song, caption and hashtags to use when posting
The track is "Stay with Me" by Akcent, a Romanian dance-pop group, from 2009. Some reposts label it as "On and On". Your video includes the original's audio, so it's post-ready. You can mute the audio on the result screen and select the track from the TikTok or Instagram music library instead. The song is owned by its rights holders, and Smew AI grants no usage rights to it. Review music guidelines before using the video in advertisements or sponsored content.
Captions matching the concept: the original "Tag the one you want to fly off into the sunset with", "That long road trip vibe", or "Every gas station stop with us". Tag the two friends appearing in it.
Hashtags: on 12 October 2026, #gasstationtrend contained 413 TikTok videos and 22.3 million views, while #gasstationdance had 228 videos and 13.6 million views. #akcent and #staywithme also apply. Keep the platform's AI disclosure label visible.

FAQ
Gas Station Dance trend questions
What is the gas station dance trend?+
It's a TikTok and Instagram trend from September 2026 recreating a 2024 road trip video. At a roadside parking lot, one person dances to car audio, another films a selfie and a third exits the car, all to "Stay with Me" by Akcent. Most new versions use AI: users insert their own or celebrity faces into the three roles.
Who appears in the original gas station dance video?+
Blogger Adel Veigel shared it on Instagram on 1 July 2024 (@adelveigel). The dancer is her friend Ravshan Dzhulpaev, the selfie recorder is blogger Mikhail Litvin, and Adel exits the car. This is why it's also known as the Litvin dance or the Ravshan, Litvin and Adel dance.
What song plays in the gas station dance?+
"Stay with Me" by Romanian group Akcent, released in 2009. Some reposts identify it as "On and On". That track plays in the 2024 road trip reel. The video on this page is the mop dance, and it uses the mop dance audio instead.
How do I create the gas station dance with my friends?+
3 friends is not offered on this page. Click "Create your own", upload one photo of you, and click Generate. You get the 15-second mop dance, and the button shows the price first.
Can I create the gas station dance by myself?+
Yes. This page takes one photo of you and makes the mop dance. It does not put you in three roles. A clear, forward-facing photo works best.
What is the mop dance at the gas station?+
It's the alternate gas station dance trend, from October 2026, also known as the mop mop mop dance or the guy dancing at gas station meme. In AI videos, an older man at a nighttime gas station exits his car and performs the mop: hands clasped and swept sideways, low bounces, arm movements. The mop dance AI videos trace back to 5 October; the mop dance trend gained traction on TikTok on 14 October. Select "Mop dance" for the gas station mop dance featuring your face. It's a separate video from the road trip footage of the other two versions.
What song plays in the mop dance?+
"The Mop" by TisaKorean, Kblast and Huncho Da Rockstar, from 2019, the track from the original mop dance challenge. Users also search for the mop dance song as the "mop mop mop song" or the mop challenge song. The Mop dance version includes the original audio. The song is owned by its rights holders; review music guidelines before using the video in advertisements.
Do I need CapCut or Dreamina?+
No. Most trend recreations use a CapCut or Dreamina template. Smew AI operates in the browser: you upload your photos here, download the completed MP4 and share from your device.
Is it filmed at a gas station or a parking lot?+
Your video is the night version: a gas station under canopy lights, a dark car, and an empty forecourt. It is not the golden-hour road trip lot.
How long is the video, and does it include audio?+
15 seconds, vertical 9:16, 720p, as an MP4 file, with the mop dance audio. The video player on the result screen has a mute control.
Does the gas station dance video cost credits?+
Yes. Each video costs credits, and the create page displays the exact price on the Generate button before any charge. If a video fails, credits are refunded.
Can I use photos of my friends?+
Yes, with their permission. Use photos of consenting adults, never a celebrity or stranger. Everyone retains their own face and the clothing from their photo.
